So.... What exactly is the Revelarium?
In a general the title comes from the word revelare, which means to uncover, reveal, or shed light on. That is nice word image, but a little abstract.
The tagline came from a random search of quotes, but the more I thought about it, the more it seemed to fit. To light a candle rather than rail against the darkness. Do something positive instead fixating on the negative. Such a deal.
I am a Christian and view the world through a Christian world view, according to my lights. I do not claim to have any monopoly on correctness or perfection. I have been wrong too many times. On the other hand, one of my goals try to understand how the truth that comes from God applies to the world we all live in. I like to take a point of view and have a conversation to see how it holds together.
I also try to think through issues and see how they interrelate, and how simplifying principles can be found for disparate events or conditions.
I like to understand how things work. I like word histories (etymology) . I like thinking through how historic classical values came to be, and how they may or may not apply to current situations. I like to think through first principles behind different disciplines, such as economics, and how they may apply to different situations. I also like to collect sayings and learn where they come from and what they mean.

So the goal of this sight is to collect cool insights, and maybe think about the world around us and see just how it all fits together.
Now... What in the world am I trying to do with this site.
I am using a cabin in the woods motif for this site. Different places in and around a cabin form the backdrop for different types of pages. Less is more is the design theme for this site. I have candle in space, a desktop with a book, notebook and a mini bookshelf, plus two landscape views as top banners for this site. For of the top banners have theme language to set the tone for them. I have a simple black background with a glow. The workspace is white with a darker sidebar. The goal is to have enough accent to set a tone, then let clean words and pictures convey the message .
After all that... What is included in this site.
  • There is a an entry page with a banner of a candle in the dark. This is a simple motif for the site. For now I have a welcome, short description of the site and the current status of the site..
  • Next there is a blog with a banner of a desk with a notebook. Named Blog. This page holds short 200-300 word commentaries on things that interest me.
  • There is also a section on cool sayings with a banner holding a classic looking old book. It's in blog format, but that is just because that is compatible with sayings with optional commentary. I put in sayings that strike men as interesting in any given week.
  • There is a section called Essayings with a banner of a small bookshelf on a desk. This is for discussions of a more involved nature than is appropriate for a blog post.
  • There is a section on cool stuff with a banner of a cool almost surreal landscape. I'll post random cool stuff as I find it, and split this page into sections as the volume of stuff justifies it.
  • This is the page you are reading, and has a landscape with a cabin at dusk on it. If the candle on the first page is the narrow view, this is the expansive view of the classic frontier theme.

Here is the Hoo-Ha!
